"description": "Rent stabilized tenants are entitled to control our own heat, as well as other upgrades to make our homes safer, more comfortable, and more efficient -- but landlords aren't following the law. Under Local Law 97, landlords are required to install devices that will allow us to control the temperature of our radiators, seal drafty windows, insulate dangerously hot steam pipes, and maintain the heating systems in our buildings. However, city government is not enforcing the law, and as a result, tenants are missing out on necessary maintenance and upgrades. The city must make sure landlords comply, and tenants see these benefits. Send an email to your council member, the Department of Buildings, and the Department of Housing and Preservation Development to make sure we get the upgrades we deserve!",
