"description": "On September 5, 2018, Michigan legislators voted to raise Michigan's minimum wage to $12/hour and to require employers to offer paid sick leave earned by workers. Today, those same legislators are proposing cuts to minimum wage and earned paid sick leave. While Michigan's economy is going strong, wages have not kept up with the rising costs of living, inflation, education, or healthcare. Families are working full-time jobs and still living in poverty. Higher wages not only lift up workers, but also help employers thrive by decreasing employee turnover and increasing productivity. In 2016, 80% of business executives across America supported raising their state’s minimum wage. We must uphold these measures to ensure Michigan grows in a way that benefits families and workers, not just the wealthy CEOs, corporations, and big banks. Now is the time to be vocal and contact your State Representative before votes and cuts are made. Thank you for taking action!",
