Thanks to tireless campaigning by the disabled community and its allies, the Labour government has been forced to offer a number of so-called “concessions”. These will introduce a two-tier benefit system where new applicants will be subject to harsh new rules that mean disabled people are left without the support they need. It will push 150,000 into poverty - forcing disabled people to choose between essentials like food and medication or heating and accessible transport. To rush through these dangerous and ill-informed plans when there still isn’t a full impact assessment, or plans for meaningful engagement with disabled groups, is unacceptable.",
