"description": "The new Speaker of the House Matt Huffman wants to pull the rug out from Ohio’s public schools by not including critical funding in the 2026-27 state budget and Gov. Mike DeWine has introduced a state budget proposal that falls short of what's needed to fully and fairly fund our public schools. He bases his plan on 2022 costs and does not provide the necessary funding to properly educate children from disadvantaged backgrounds, English language learners or students with special needs. Ohio's last two state budgets included the Fair School Funding Plan (FSFP), a hard-won fix to Ohio’s old unconstitutional school funding system that had forced districts to over-rely on local property taxes. Speaker Huffman wants to undo that progress. He called the FSFP “unsustainable” and said he does not intend to include the FSFP’s third and final phase in the 2026-27 state budget. Please use the materials below to write a letter asking your State Representative to make sure the state budget includes the Fair School Funding Plan with fully updated costs!",
