"description": "The so-called Fix Our Forests Act poses grave threats to our environment, wildlife, and the democratic process of public participation in environmental decisions. If passed, this bill would: Destroy critical habitats that countless species, including those already on the brink of extinction, depend on for survival. Weaken cornerstone protections like the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Endangered Species Act (ESA) by exempting large-scale logging (disguised as “vegetation management”) from required environmental reviews. Silence public voices by restricting legal avenues for holding agencies accountable, reducing transparency, and excluding scientific and community input. Even worse, the bill would actually increase wildfire risks.Indiscriminate logging often leaves behind more combustible material, increases sunlight and wind on the forest floor, and ultimately makes forests less resilient, not safer. Our forests are essential for a stable, healthy planetand home to an intricate web of life that sustains our planet. Weakening protections puts ecosystems, communities, and future generations in jeopardy. Tell your Senators to oppose the Fix Our Forests Act.
