	"description": "Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) threatens the future of wolf recovery and endangered species protections and would almost surely reverse what progress has been made in addressing the biodiversity and climate crises. The Senate must reject the nomination of Brian Nesvik to lead the USFWS. His record demonstrates a disregard for endangered species conservation and environmental protection and extreme deference to hunting, trapping, and oil and gas interests. Nesvik is a former Wyoming Game and Fish Director who prioritized hunting and trapping over endangered species protection, particularly for gray wolves. His policies continue to lead to excessive hunting and horribly inhumane killings, and he has publicly supported delisting wolves from the Endangered Species Act nationwide. It was under his leadership that Cody Roberts tortured and killed a wolf just over one year ago, and the agency he oversaw took nearly no action in response–either to hold Roberts accountable or prevent future acts of extreme cruelty. His record shows that he favors special interests seeking to exploit wildlife, rather than science-based conservation. We need leaders committed to conservation and sustainable practices, not those with histories of prioritizing exploitation. The Senate must protect our natural heritage by rejecting this unfit nominee..
