	"description": "In America, no law enforcement agency should operate in the shadows – least of all an agency as powerful as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Yet, ICE agents have been documented detaining immigrants while concealing their identities: wearing masks, refusing to identify themselves, and ignoring due process. We believe these cruel and unjust operations must end. But while we fight to abolish these abuses outright, we must insist on a simple, immediate step: that ICE agents at least stop hiding behind masks and anonymous uniforms. That’s why we’re demanding Congress act immediately to unmask ICE. And three critical pieces of legislation have already been introduced to put a stop to do just that: The VISIBLE Act — introduced by Sen. Alex Padilla, this bill prohibits ICE agents from concealing their identities during enforcement actions, ensuring transparency and accountability. The No Masks for ICE Act — introduced by Rep. Nydia Velázquez, this bill bans ICE officers from wearing face coverings that obscure their identities while performing enforcement duties. The No Secret Police Act — introduced by Reps. Dan Goldman and Adriano Espaillat, this bill closes loopholes that allow federal agencies to act as unaccountable secret police, shielding themselves from public scrutiny.
