"description": "Although statistically more women than men are graduating with college degrees each year, this opportunity is not equally accessible to all women. Skyrocketing tuition costs have made this situation worse, especially for women of color and single moms. In 2016, 34 percent of white women had a college degree or higher, compared to 24.6 percent of black women and a mere 17.4 percent of Hispanic women. Only 31 percent of single mothers had a college degree. Education is essential for women who want to improve their lives and the lives of their families. All women deserve this opportunity. Educated women are more likely to have healthcare. Educated women ensure their children receive education. Educated women increase their wage-earning opportunities, thereby disrupting the cycle of poverty. Educated women help build stronger communities, nations and the world. Education is not a luxury: it is a social and economic imperative that every hard working and responsible woman should be able to access. ACT NOW: Tell Congress to make college affordable and accessible for ALL women!",
