"description": "What's happening? A new mixed-use development is being proposed along the Beltline next to Piedmont Park, in the Virginia-Highland and Morningside-Lenox neighborhoods. The proposed development would add: + 900 new apartments in a transit-friendly, walkable neighborhood + 180 of these apartments reserved as affordable housing (at 80% AMI) Why does it matter? This project would offer roughly 2,000 new residents a place to live in one of our city's most walkable, bikeable, and currently exclusionary neighborhoods. This would be the first new apartments in Virginia-Highland in 15 YEARS! We need robust housing growth through projects like this to accommodate Atlanta's growing population and prevent rising rents, displacement, and urban sprawl. How can you support? Sign this petition to show that you support more housing along the Beltline! Share this petition to help spread the word! If you live in NPU F (what is my NPU?), please register with NPU F and make a plan to vote in favor of the project at the next NPU F virtual meeting at May 15th at 7pm . As part of registration, you'll also have to submit proof of residency (tax invoice, power bill, driver's license) to npuf@npufatlanta.org. Have your partner or roommates register & attend too - every vote counts! If you don't live in NPU F, the rezoning will still likely go before the city-wide Zoning Review Board and Atlanta City Council at a later date. Stay tuned - we'll let you know when there's additional opportunities to voice your support! Other project details: + The land is currently zoned C-1, which already allows office towers and up to 300 apartments. The developer is asking to rezone to mixed-use to allow an additional 600 apartments. + All new parking will be below grade. No parking podiums! + 90k SF of Beltline-oriented retail (12.5% of retail reserved at lower rates for local qualifying businesses) + 400k SF office space You can read more about the project (and the opposition) here.",
