	"description": "The England Airpark Authority Board has signed a contract to convert decommissioned military barracks at England Airpark in Alexandria, Louisiana, into a 528-bed detention facility for migrant children and families. The land underneath those barracks has documented soil and water contamination. The stated purpose of the facility is to accelerate how quickly children and families can be detained, moved, and deported. Alexandria is already home to one of the busiest ICE transfer points in the country and to 10 detention centers scattered across the state. Rev. Dr. Shannon Fleck, our Executive Director, has seen its cruelty firsthand. Now, the board is trying to add one more -- this time, for children. The board meets in public session on September 24.
