"description": "We are a group of Glen Park residents and Chenery Slow Street users who need the San Francisco community to come out in support of making Chenery Street a permanent Slow Street. We will not be able to do this without your support! Why should you support Chenery as a Slow Street? Because we believe a Slow Street on Chenery is: Good for kids The data is clear: Slow Streets reduce collisions and provide safe routes for kids walking to and from school or afterschool care. Did you know that Glen Park is home to nearly 40% more children than San Francisco on average? That’s a good reason to keep one of our busiest walking streets slow. Good for the climate Vehicles are the number one source of emissions in San Francisco. The city wants to make 80% of trips by sustainable transport by 2030. In order to get there, we need two things: 1) Safe routes on Slow Streets that encourage more biking and walking and 2) a cross-city network of Slow Streets connecting neighborhoods. Good for business By joining the network of Slow Streets around the city, we’re futureproofing the Glen Park economy and ushering new bike and foot traffic into the commerce area at Chenery and Diamond. The Crosstown trail is already bringing more people to Glen Park, and a permanent Slow Street is another great reason to visit our small businesses. Good for the community Data also shows that streets with less traffic encourage neighbors to stop, meet and talk—increasing community and building resilience. This not only builds connections for kids and people walking their dogs, but also keeps elderly neighbors safer in the event of an emergency.",
