While federal and state law protects people against discrimination based on sex and sexual orientation, transgender people are not protected. A new law is being proposed in the Ulster County Legislature that mimics the state&#x27;s Human Rights Law, but adds gender identity and presentation to the protections. The law would protect transgender people&#x27;s access to public accommodations - establishments that provide goods and services to the general public, like restaurants, hotels, hospitals, gyms and retail stores. Ulster County can lead New York State in rejecting hate and intolerance, showing that all are welcome in our community.",
