Here are a few of the many reasons to stand against greyhound racing: From 2006-2016, 40,151 dogs were injured 18,410 of which did not race again - meaning half of dogs that were injured were retired from the &#x27;sport&#x27; (most likely meaning that they are killed or sold abroad often into abject conditions for breeding purposes). Every single licensed greyhound racetrack has a freezer to store killed dogs - it is an expected and accepted consequence of racing. Cocaine and other drugs (morphine, pentobarbital, etc.) are frequently found in the urine of dogs when tested, but testing can be rare. In the UK in 2022, there were 4,422 total injuries to greyhounds and 120 died at the track - this is an average of 1 every 3 days! Racing greyhounds spend 95% of their lives confined in small, barren kennels, and when housed with another dog they are kept constantly muzzled. Investigations have shown that these dogs lack even the most basic health care, with an abundance of flea and worm infestations, untreated injuries, malnutrition and dental problems. People know that this sport is cruel and outdated, and needs to be stopped. The UK is one of only 7 countries left that still allows greyhound racing; 60% of Scots want greyhound racing to be phased out; 35,000 people signed the petition to ban greyhound racing in Wales.
