	"description": "Representing over 600 stores across the country, Starbucks Workers United (SBWU) was able to secure a fair contract and gain recognition with the Starbucks Corporation. However, in recent years, and with the hiring of their new CEO Brian Nichols, Starbucks has proven that they do not plan to respect the rights and voices of their workers. As the next generation of workers – and one of Starbucks’ key customer demographics – we must stand up to major corporations like Starbucks to demand they stop exploiting their workers while denying them basic rights like fair wages, consistent work schedules, and the right to organize a union without intimidation or fear of retaliation. In fact, just three years after unionizing, here in Atlanta, the Starbucks in Ansley Mall was forced to close down. While Starbucks claimed this was to transfer the workers to other stores, SBWU maintained Starbucks illegally closed down the store in retaliation for its union activities. GT YDSA and SBWU call for students to: Boycott all Starbucks products on campus until further notice Sign the open letter condemning Starbucks&#x27; union-busting strategies and pledge support with SBWU Work to replace the campus&#x27; Starbucks in Barnes &amp;amp; Nobles with a more ethical coffee shop",
