"description": "Hostile architecture plays a major role in the displacement of the "homeless" population. A home is so much more than a physical space. By calling individuals experiencing houselessness “homeless” you strip away that connection. Houselessness is simply lacking a place to live. Instead of investing in sustainable urban agriculture, food forests, or carbon sequestering trees, the city supports the installment of often-unpermitted planters that exist only in areas where tents once stood, resulting in dead plants and unwatered dirt revealing their true purpose—to displace human lives. Rather than addressing the root of homelessness, city government officials prefer to implement disadvantageous structures such as rocks (boulders, metal spikes, leaning bars instead of benches, or uncomfortably leveled benches, etc.,) that only perpetuate the extensive problems of houselessness. Hostile architecture also criminalizes houseless individuals who seek shelter in public spaces or use public facilities rather than working to create effective community based solutions to prevent the houseless population. This is an ongoing commitment against hostile architecture and approving proposed projects that include them.",
