"description": "Great Yarmouth is facing widespread disruption this summer, with strike action affecting beach and street cleaning, waste collections, landscaping services and cemetery operations. The workers delivering these essential services are paid only pennies above the National Minimum Wage, despite carrying out demanding work in all weather conditions while similar roles in neighbouring authorities receive significantly higher pay. If the dispute continues, residents, businesses and visitors could face overflowing bins, reduced cleaning and disruption during the busiest time of year. We believe this can be avoided. Unite members call on Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Great Yarmouth Services to urgently return to meaningful negotiations with recognised trade unions and make a fair pay offer that reflects the value of these essential workers. A negotiated settlement would: Protect vital public services. Keep streets, beaches and public spaces clean. Recognise the contribution of frontline workers. Prevent further disruption during the summer season. Our community deserves clean public spaces, reliable services and a workforce that is treated fairly. We urge the council and Great Yarmouth Services to act now, resolve this dispute and prevent further disruption.",
