"description": "In June, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission made the illegal and offensive decision to permit Line 3, a tar sands pipeline that would carry 760,000 barrels per day of oil from Alberta, Canada, across northern Minnesota and treaty territory of the Anishinaabe people, to Superior, Wisconsin. Constructing Line 3 would be an attack on indigenous rights, threaten critical sacred wild rice beds and the headwaters of the Mississippi River, and expand fossil fuel extraction at a time when the climate crisis is demanding we transition to renewables instead. Minnesota's Governor has an important role to play to help stop Line 3. Between now and the end of the year, we need to keep the pressure on both the current Governor, Mark Dayton, and whichever candidate is elected in November to make sure they know we expect them to do everything in their power to #StopLine3.",
