	"description": "North Carolina State University– SG Petition For over six months, NC State has witnessed widespread student concern and numerous student-led actions encouraging the university to take some form of action in response to the ongoing crisis in Palestine. Students have rallied in support of a ceasefire, in support of boycott and divestment from companies that aid the Israeli military and apartheid system, and in support of the creation of an educational resource about the history of Palestine. We, the undersigned students, organizations, staff, and faculty at North Carolina State University, now demand a stance from NC State’s Student Government regarding these matters. NC State’s Student Government promotes itself as the “official voice of the student body” and as “both a governing body and an advocacy group.” Therefore, we feel it is only proper to utilize this forum to the extent of its authority. We seek to amplify our concerns about this ongoing massacre, one that the International Court of Justice deems to be a plausible case of genocide. We recognize that the same investment funds and taxes that finance this institution are currently bankrolling Israel’s siege on Gaza, a siege that has murdered over 30k Palestinian civilians. We want it on the record that the students of NC State stand against genocide, against “neutrality,” and instead – for the rights and well-being of all. This petition exists to demonstrate that NC State students are united behind these various demands. Student Government also describes itself as “a clearinghouse for concerns from students and answers from administrators” and as the NC State administration has failed to issue any response to these student demands– we now feel it only proper to bring these demands to the Student Government. We imagine a future where the Student Government acts for all students, not simply as resume padding for select individuals. We imagine a future where our university invests in peace.
