"description": "Between 1952 and 1991, we were sent along with thousands of other British servicemen to watch the UK test atomic bombs. We were given no protection, and nobody told us the harm it would cause. "If you've seen the film 'Oppenheimer', I sat 20 miles from a nuclear explosion that was a thousand times greater than that explosion" John Morris, a nuclear test veteran Since then, we have suffered lifelong health conditions - cancers of the liver, bone, bowel, skin and brain, leukemia and heart disease. Many of us have had children with life-changing disabilities, others have suffered miscarriages and infant deaths our families were never given an answer for. Only approximately 1,200 of us veterans are alive today. Our own medical records were classified in a cover-up. We have never had an apology. Other testing countries have all compensated their nuclear test veterans. Britain has not. Andy Burnham has long stood by us; he has called this “a criminal cover-up on an industrial scale”. Now he is Prime Minister, we need him to act. Make this right, for us and our families, while we are still alive to witness it. We need your help: Tell Andy Burnham. He said it was an injustice. Now he must end it.",
