"description": "Have you heard of the reverse revolving door, where former industry “experts” write and implement rules and laws that benefit their former bosses? The most recent glaring example is at the Environmental Protection Agency where Donald Trump’s acting administrator is working to roll back regulations limiting mercury emissions from coal-burning power plants. EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler is a former employee of the Murray Energy Corporation ― one of the country’s largest coal companies. Its owner, Robert E. Murray, is a donor to President Trump’s inauguration, and has personally lobbied the administration to roll back the mercury rule. At the same time, the EPA’s leading clean air official, William Wehrum, previously represented coal companies that sought to eliminate mercury emissions rules. These blatant examples of Administration officials doing the bidding of their former clients create clear conflicts of interest. Sign the petition demanding that Congress act to close the reverse revolving door. Former industry “experts” should not be writing rules and laws that benefit their former bosses.",
