	"description": "On March 1st, 2019, during the Oakland Education Association strike, kindergarten teacher Darnisha Wright was viciously attacked and choked by OUSD board director Jumoke Hinton Hodge. A video of the incident went viral.  When Mrs. Wright complained to OUSD about the attack, her position with OUSD was terminated. Mrs. Wright, a longtime homeowner in East Oakland, is recognized by her principal, colleagues, and parents at Markham Elementary as an excellent kindergarten teacher. She is a highly qualified African American teacher dedicated to serving low-income students of color in the community where she lives.  She is exactly the kind of educator Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) needs and claims to be seeking. We stand with Darnisha Wright!  Join us to demand that OUSD stop the retaliation and return Darnisha Wright to her position teaching kindergarten at Markham Elementary!",
