"description": "On November 19, 2020, the CCSD Board of Trustees discussed a request that would result in the layoff of 1,480 Education Support Professionals. This shameful request and discussion came the same week as Education Support Professionals Day was celebrated and a week before Thanksgiving. Some CCSD officials are under the misconception that ESP's are not working enough or at all due to telecommuting, but that is simply untrue. There is not a single ESP that is not currently working. They are all earning their paychecks. CCSD needs to start at the top, and work their way down. There is not a single Administrator or anyone making over $100,000 per year on the list for possible layoff. Instead, the employees that make as little as $12.90 per hour are the employees listed as potential cuts. These cuts will be on the backs of essential ESP's, and will overwhelming impact our minority community. This bottom to top approach is shameful. ESPs are always essential, not just when CCSD officials need politically convenient talking points. Please sign our petition asking for reconsideration of this "start from the bottom" approach.",
