"description": "The residential streets on Alki Point (see map below) was deemed a Stay Healthy Street by SDOT and Mayor Jenny Durkan on May 7th, 2020. The street was converted to "Local Access Only" for cars and opened to pedestrian and bicycle access to promote safe and healthy outdoor activity. The designation has been a great success and made the streets and sidewalks (including Constellation Park) safe and accessible to all people including those with disabilities, walkers, joggers, families, children, the elderly, skaters, and cyclists. By SDOT's own count, disclosed at the Seattle Pedestrian Advisory Board, Alki Point's street usage by pedestrians and cyclists is the highest of all Stay Healthy Streets in the City. 20 miles of Stay Healthy Streets have been made permanent by the Mayor and SDOT. We are demanding that the City and SDOT make this non-arterial residential street and the most used Stay Healthy Street in Seattle into a PERMANENT Stay and Healthy Street.",
