While many of the features proposed will beautify the space and add sustainable features, it also includes a plan for a central structure that negatively impacts campus accessibility, takes away the historical public square nature of the space, and adds unnecessary grass, which is not sustainable. The UIC Heritage Garden interns and other students are asking the Chancellor for a student meeting before the construction of the Quad begins to address their concerns further outlined in the petition.
