"description": "Florida has become ground zero for the rapid rollout of autonomous vehicles. Since 2012, our state has led the nation in legalizing and promoting self-driving cars, and now, companies like Waymo are actively testing their robotaxis in cities like Orlando and Miami with plans to launch commercial services by 2026. We demand: A moratorium on the commercial launch of driverless ride-hailing services A ban on further testing and deployment of AVs until comprehensive safety standards and labor protections are in place Job protections for Florida’s rideshare and delivery workers, who stand to lose the most Real investment in public transportation, not unregulated automation Florida should not be a test lab for unaccountable machines. Our communities deserve safety, transparency, and fair jobs, not reckless tech experiments. Sign the petition now. Tell our leaders: Protect our streets. Protect our jobs. Say NO to autonomous vehicles. Florida laws go further than most: In 2016, the state removed the requirement for a human driver during testing. In 2019, SB 932 authorized fully autonomous vehicles to operate without a human on board. Today, companies are legally allowed to deploy driverless cars for commercial use on public roads in Florida. This legal fast track may benefit tech giants, but it puts our communities at risk. Across the country, autonomous vehicles have caused real harm, blocking ambulances, getting stuck mid-intersection, stopping abruptly in traffic, and endangering pedestrians and cyclists. Join us in calling on state leaders to put the brakes on this dangerous rollout.",
