	"description": "Students in West Contra Costa can&#x27;t wait for the WCCUSD board to address the teacher vacancies and high turnover causing disruptions to their learning environments. WCCUSD started the year with 70 vacancies, meaning over 2,000 students and classrooms felt the effects of a district that cannot attract and retain the teachers our schools and students need. WCCUSD also relies on expensive temporary outside contractors to provide crucial special education services. Staffing these positions with trusted district employees would give our students the stable supports they need to succeed, and at a lower cost to the district. We are also fighting for more sustainable class sizes, and protections for our many international educators. United Teachers of Richmond are united with our students and communities to address these issues, and we need your support. We are currently negotiating with our district for the improvements in working and learning conditions that will benefit our students, teachers, and schools.
