	"description": "We call on the East Providence City Council to pass resolutions to formally adopt two visionary transportation plans that were recently complete: Safe Streets and Roads for all Safety Action Plan - ADOPTED MAY 2026!Thank you to the City Council. ✅ Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (completed - January 2026) ✅ Both plans made use of data analysis, mapping, and public input to develop specific recommendations for making streets safer and enabling people of all ages and abilities to safely walk and bike in East Providence. In addition to passing a resolution adopting both of the plans listed above, we call on the City Council and the Administration to follow the recommendations in The Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and begin the following actions immediately upon adoption of the plan: Establish a Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee with regular meeting schedule - ESTABLISHED MAY 2026! Thank you Mayor DaSilva! ✅ Coordinate the reclassification of Wampanoag Trail from a “freeway” to an “arterial” with the Department of Administration to allow for future crosswalk. Trial the new traffic pattern on First Street to fill the gap in the East Bay Bike Path. Begin short term projects indicated in the plan (signage and striping on existing bike routes, adding cross walks). Establish new procedures for sidewalk funding. Meet with BPAC to identify which programs and policies will be established in the short ter. Before this vision for first-rate walking and biking networks can be made a reality, the East Providence City Council needs to formally adopt both plans. Adopting these plans will demonstrate the City’s commitment to transportation safety and enable the City to begin the search for funding so the work can begin. We call on the City Council and the administration to commit to a connected, healthy, sustainable future for East Providence by passing resolutions and formally adopting these plans.
