	"description": "The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a federal utility corporation that is responsible for producing power for Tennessee. They have proposed the construction of a methane gas plant on a 286 acre parcel of land in North Cheatham County with an accompanying 12 mile pipeline owned by Kinder Morgan. Residents of this area and allies are asking TVA to STOP with their plans for a methane gas plant and pipeline and LISTEN to the concerns of directly impacted folks living nearby. Cheatham County deserves a say in how they will participate in energy production for our state. Community members have continually expressed concerns about: Falling property values Safety risks associated with living near a highly flammable gas pipeline Water quality Preservation of the natural beauty and quiet of the area Threats to fish and local wildlife Rising power bills associated with the costs for building the plant We ask that TVA: A) Look into alternative sites that are already industrialized (brownfield sites, etc.) B) Evaluate alternative energy sources that are less disruptive, less expensive, and closer to their end-points. Rural communities have long paid the price for producing energy in Tennessee.
