	"title": "UNSUSPEND NYU STUDENT-WORKERS",
	"thumbnail_url": "https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg",
	"description": "On February 19th, 2025, the NYU administration enacted the latest in a series of harsh reprisals against students standing in solidarity with Palestine. Three additional student-workers from the department of Art and Public Policy have been suspended for their participation in a study-in that took place at Bobst Library on December 11th, resulting in the loss of their on-campus jobs and only means of supporting themselves. We call on the University to immediately reverse the suspensions of these three student-workers, who have been subjected to draconian punishment for upholding the values of “free discourse, debate, and dissent” that the University claims to champion. Among those suspended is an international student who now faces deportation and long odds in obtaining the visa necessary for reentry and completion of their degree in light of the heightened nativism and xenophobia of the second Trump Administration. The University has so far remained largely silent and acquiescent to these forces even as it is all too willing to effectively expel and deport its own students for naming and resisting them. It goes without saying that these sanctions are out of all proportion with the alleged infractions of the student conduct policy — a policy that specifically acknowledges the value of “a critically engaged, activist student body.” UAW GSOC-2110 remains steadfast in its position of solidarity with Palestine and its unwavering opposition to racism, Islamophobia, antisemitism, and all forms of xenophobia. The union also remains committed to defending the fundamental rights of speech, expression, and assembly—even and especially when the University fails to do so. We urge you to sign this petition and raise your voice in support of this urgent call for justice and an end to the blatant persecution of pro-Palestinian voices within the NYU community. Amnesty for all suspended and disciplined students—NOW!",
