"description": "Last week, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Senator Ed Markey introduced twin resolutions to bring the Green New Deal to Congress. These resolutions are the first that tackle climate change in line with what science and justice demand, and if we secure a critical mass of support, we can cement the Green New Deal at the top of the political agenda as we head into the 2020 elections. But resolutions are introduced in Congress every day, without our representatives ever hearing from constituents about them. That’s why we all need to tell our representatives in the House and the Senate: if you want to be taken seriously on climate change and earn the support of young people, you need to support this resolution. Virginia's second district includes Accomack, Northampton, and York counties, as well as the cities of Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Norfolk, and Hampton. As a coastal district, taking bold action on climate change is especially important to protecting our communities. The Green New Deal is the best solution for saving both our environment and our economy from climate catastrophe.",
