"description": "As Veterans, many of us have seen first hand that there is no military solution to organizations like Hamas. There is only more killing and more unspeakable violence that leaves entire regions less stable and less safe in the end. We mourn for the Palestinian and Israelis killed, and we are clear that supplying further weapons, military funding, and endorsement of the Israeli military's devastating bombardment of Gaza will only result in more Palestinian and Israeli death. The Israeli government is threatening to commit genocide against Palestinians and denying their humanity. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu asserted: “What we will do to our enemies will reverberate for generations.” The Israeli minister of defense called Palestinians “human animals” announced that the 16-year-long draconian siege on Gaza will now become a total closure, vowing, “No electricity, no food, no water, no fuel. Everything is closed.” There are over two million Palestinians in Gaza, half of whom are children. Without intervention, this catastrophe threatens to become unimaginably more devastating. We have as Americans duty to actively oppose U.S. support for Israel's war crimes and as Veterans we have a power role to play in in this fight. The unthinkable becomes acceptable when we deny people their humanity. We must fight to bring this devastating violence to an immediate end.",
