"description": "Join the VFNHP and other UVM Health unions on Friday, August 28th at 2:30pm for a Step 3 grievance hearing on the GLP-1 coverage changes! Link here: https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/287632385770866?p=lXjyq740YHpX45rWUr (meeting information also provided in confirmation email), then sign your name in support of the full reinstatement of essential coverage for preventive medicine. UVMMC has announced their intention to no longer cover GLP-1 medications for many of our members and their families, effective September 1st, 2026. These decision would have devastating impacts for all those whose quality of life and health have been transformed by these medications. Furthermore our unions believe the UVM health network should not be able to unilaterally make a significant change to a healthcare benefit that our members and their families rely on. As a healthcare institution that prides itself on putting patients and their health first, we believe this decision directly contradicts those values. When the Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals first learned about this change, they promptly filed a grievance under Articles 1 – Preamble, 7 – Non-Discrimination, Article 30– Flexible Benefits, and Article 48 – Maintenance of Standards. While not all unions in the healthcare network have identical contract language, benefits changes are being made at the Network level, so the intention that this grievance captures the network-wide impacts on employees and families. This grievance has reached its third step, and all members are welcome to join for this important meeting. Our organizing has already brought about an expansion of coverage for designated conditions -- let's keep up the pressure!",
