	"description": "Calling all expectant parents and support people! Come join us to learn the essentials of Active Birth Skills! Are you pregnant or supporting someone who is? Whether you are planning to birth in a hospital or at home, this workshop is for you. Whether you are a first time, second- or fifth-time mum, you are You will learn active birth skills, and how they can help make your labour more comfortable, understand your body and increase confidence to birth your baby. Support People will learn techniques on how to give your partner what they need, different birth positions, breathing techniques, using props and tools in labour and birth and information on informed consent. Active birth has proven links to labours which are shorter, less painful and decrease the need for medical intervention. Rather than lying down during labour, active birth encourages movement and use gravity to assist with the birth of the baby. This workshop will be led by Fiona Reid, a senior midwife with over 30 years&#x27; experience and Helen Donovan, a senior midwife and lactation consultant with over a decade&#x27;s experience. What to Bring? Notebook or journal to write notes., Yoga mat, Fit ball (if you do not have one, we will have spare ones) About Better Births Illawarra: We are a community advocacy organisation aiming for every mother and birthing parent to access an empowered birth.We value the importance of education. We remind women about their power and return knowledge about birth to new and expectant parents through education. Our workshops are culturally safe and LGBTIQ+ safe spaces. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and we welcome people living with disabilities. REFUND POLICY We provide refunds however as a not-for profit organisation we must cover our workshop costs. Refund details are as follows: 50% deduction of the original ticket price if cancelled within 2 day of the workshop 30% deduction of the original ticket price if cancelled 3-14 days of the workshop Full refund will be given for tickets cancelled 15 days and earlier. We wish to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land the workshop will be held on, the Wodi Wodi Peoples of Dharawal Country.
