Event Highlights: Opening Labour Appreciation Dinner and Plenary Session (October 19, 6:00 PM - Hosted by the United Way of BC): Kick off the school with an inspiring opening dinner and plenary session. The United Way of BC will in partnership with the NDDLC will be honouring the important work our unions and our members do in our community. Engage in thought-provoking discussions and connect with fellow participants as we set the tone for an enriching learning experience. Courses Offered: - Member to Member Engagement Tips and Strategies (Course 1): Dive into the three-step approach to member engagement: Go, Listen, Build. Link this with tactics for building an active membership base, making this training essential for unions grappling with challenges such as upcoming contract negotiations, unresolved grievances, a particularly disengaged membership, a lack of active volunteers, or a diverse membership that seeks better representation at leadership levels - Parliamentary Procedures and Chairing Effective Meetings (Course 2): Learn how to guide meetings with precision and confidence. This two-day course highlights the pivotal roles of the chairperson and secretary, emphasizing how adherence to structured rules of order can streamline union business, ensuring the union&#x27;s business is conducted efficiently and fairly. - Labor Advocacy and Community Outreach (Course 3): Explore the intersection of labour advocacy and community outreach. Acquire the skills needed to collaborate with community partners, leverage public support, and drive positive change both within and beyond the workplace.
