"description": "Na'amod presents: Solidarity with Palestinian Booksellers! Join us in London on Sunday 2 March for an afternoon of readings in solidarity with the Educational Bookshop in occupied East Jerusalem. Speakers include Khalid Abdalla, Atef Alshaer, Rachel Connolly, Selma Dabbagh, Ahmed Masoud, Ahmed Najar, Michael Rosen, Rachel Shabi, Avi Shlaim, Daniel Trilling and Natasha Walter! PLUS Photography by Manal Massalha, a book stall from Newham Bookshop, drinks and time to socialise. When: 2 March, 3pm Where: 21Soho, 3-5 Sutton Row, London W1S 4NR After the raid by Israeli forces on the Educational Bookshop in occupied East Jerusalem, and the arrests of its owners Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna, Na’amod is hosting a solidarity event in protest at Israel’s attacks on Palestinians’ freedom and culture across historic Palestine. The intimidation and harassment of the Muna family and assault on one of the city’s best-loved intellectual and political sites of encounter lays bare the Israeli state’s desperate attempts to control public knowledge and consolidate a climate of fear. A range of acclaimed writers will join us in a celebration of Palestinian culture and free expression. Na'amod stands opposed to Israel's genocidal war against the Palestinian people, which - among other human rights violations - includes the destruction of libraries, sites of learning and cultural heritage. Tickets cost £10, which includes donations to the Educational Bookshop and to the Hanoon Foundation (FQMS), which supports Palestinian healthcare independence by advancing medical education in Palestine.",
