COVID-19 has hurt working people. Anti-union campaigns are getting more aggressive. More people want unions but less know how to get one. It’s a crucial time for a strong Labor Council. We need your help to keep the Memphis and West Tennessee Labor Council strong. Please join us, Sunday, October 3rd, 5:00 pm, at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave, for our Stronger Together Fundraiser and Evening Reception. Come and fellowship with Labor and allies over drinks and small plates. Funds raised will keep the Council strong and able to continue growing local union power. Please consider sponsoring the event: Gold - $5,000, 35 tickets, large logo on all printed materials and digital banner Silver - $3,000, 20 tickets, medium logo on all printed materials and digital banner Bronze - $1,500, 10 tickets, small logo on all printed materials and digital banner Copper - $500, 3 tickets, logo on digital banner 1 ticket - $100, unlimited small plates, two alcohol drink tickets The Labor Council has worked through the pandemic to build unions’ fighting power. We’ve helped unions reach community allies, communicate with the media, offer training to members, grow membership and win campaigns. Your sponsorship helps us continue. So far in 2021 we have supported restaurant workers to win $2.5 million in direct relief and launch a union. We helped AFSCME win $15/hr for SCS employees, and a raise or bonus for all local public workers. We helped United Campus Workers win additional layoff severance and the Teamsters to block a tax break for a union-busting company. We stood with IUE against offshoring, Amazon workers in their bid to join RWDSU and Mineworkers in their strike. We still have our work cut out for us. We aim to establish a local Workers Rights Commission, expand public funds for union construction, and support upcoming strikes and campaigns. With your help we can grow worker power and meet the challenges the labor movement faces. Please become a sponsor so we can continue to build our power together.
