This bill would allow Gov. Greg Abbott to withhold tax dollars from local governments if he doesn’t agree with their policies (meaning they go further than current state law). This bill builds on House Bill 2127 from 2023, known as the Death Star bill, which eliminated local water break protections and other policies across the state.
