Join the Shop Steward Training Program and gain the skills and knowledge you need to become a powerful advocate for your peers! The Program offers training and development opportunities to give passionate union members the skills they need to represent their peers, take positive action in the workplace, and become a strong advocate for the rights of their fellow workers and improve working conditions for all! This program is for who want to make a positive lasting impact on their workplace and gain valuable experience as a leader and union representative. The program focuses on providing members the tools necessary to learn how to: Identify workplace issues Provide advice and guidance to other members Coordinate/communicate with Union leadership and management Negotiate changes in the workplace, and use conflict resolution strategies. Stewards will gain the skills to engage workers in meaningful conversations and motivate them to take collective action, build community and solidarity between members, become effective leaders for the rights of your fellow workers, as well as have the opportunity to work with experienced organizers to develop customized strategies for your particular workplace. To join the program, you must have a strong commitment to your peers, have good communication skills be willing to take on a leadership role. Be willing to be taken off the job to do this work Travel by Air or Car Be trained by a seasoned organizer on the CWA Organizing model Meet/build relationships with and help organize non-union wireless workers.
