Tell Nexstar to

Nexstar, the largest owner of broadcast television stations in the United States, has been engaging in a shameful pattern of paying poverty wages and union busting. Since 2023 three television stations - in Denver, Colorado; Henderson, Kentucky; and Rochester, New York - and the Denver Master Control Hub have unionized with NABET-CWA. Instead of following the law and bargaining with these workers, Nexstar has refused to come to the bargaining table. Despite overwhelming election wins certified by the NLRB, Nexstar has refused to recognize the union, engaging in lawfare by spending resources on fighting the union in court instead of coming to the bargaining table, and obstructing negotiations at every turn. Worse still, Nexstar has been illegally laying off union workers without bargaining in both Denver and in Henderson, and has even fired workers for their union activism. Unsurprisingly, the backdrop for this wave of unionization and union-busting is shameful working conditions. Nexstar pays poverty wages, often less than $20 an hour. This not only harms workers at the company, it also serves as an anchor, pulling down wages and conditions in the broadcast industry as a whole. You can read more about the consequences of Nexstar’s poverty wages. Now, Nexstar is attempting to change FCC rules so it can acquire even more stations. We can’t allow this company to be rewarded for its union busting and poor treatment of workers.
