#ChangeTheDebate - Detroit Presidential Debate Watch Parties

Last November, we challenged Democratic leadership with a simple question: What is your plan? That question shook the world. Since then, presidential candidates have been racing to back the Green New Deal, the first plan to treat climate change like the emergency it is. But others have doubled down on the same corporate-driven policies that have failed for decades. This approach is a death sentence for our generation. In June, activists flooded social media during the first presidential debates in Miami, and took action at the DNC headquarters in Washington, D.C. to demand they host a #ClimateDebate. Our 3-day sit-in demonstrated the commitment of young people to hold our leaders accountable and show the urgency of this crisis. We have the right to judge for ourselves which candidates we trust to fight for our future. On July 30 and 31st, Democratic presidential candidates will face off in Detroit, Michigan. While local Sunrise activists mobilize at the debate, we will organize hundreds of watch parties across the country to amplify their actions. We will come together in living rooms, classrooms and halls around the country by the thousands to unleash a social media storm and relentlessly demand the solutions we need. Can you join me?
