However, unlike previous years, this year the Drax board and executive are too scared to turn up in person. This comes after Drax took over £950m in subsidies from the public in 2025, more than their pre-tax profits, while cutting hundreds of staff and giving their CEO Will Gardiner a £2.6m paypacket. Last year, Drax closed the AGM early, preventing community members from the US from speaking about the harm Drax is doing to their communities. This year, Drax can’t even look them in the eye. This is a disgrace.
