Born out of the AIDS crisis, Housing Works has always fought back against systems that deny people dignity, care, and power. Our mission demands that every person — including people living with HIV/AIDS, people experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ+ communities, and people who rely on harm reduction services — has not only access to life‑saving support, but also the political voice needed to defend those rights. Protecting voting rights is protecting our clients, our staff, and our community’s ability to survive and thrive. Six years after the passing of Congressman John Lewis, we join thousands in Foley Square to carry forward his legacy of nonviolent resistance and “good trouble.” We march because democracy is a public health issue. We march because silencing our communities is a direct threat to the work we do every day. We march because the future of inclusive care, social justice, and the fight to end homelessness depends on our collective power.
