Join Jews for a Secular Democracy for a special Call With Us! program jointly presented by our Jewish Women and Religious Freedom in Pittsburgh Project and our Florida Initiative. Whether you live in a state where abortion is already severely restricted, like Florida, or one where abortion remains legal, like Pennsylvania, access to medication abortion matters. Federal restrictions on mifepristone (the medicine used in medication abortions) could make abortion even harder to obtain in restrictive states while sharply limiting access in states that have chosen to protect abortion rights. This program is also a natural next step after our September 9th webinar, Abortion Rights and Christian Nationalism: Whose Beliefs? Whose Laws? Join us for both programs, or watch the webinar later on JFASD’s YouTube channel. Either way, no prior knowledge is required; we will give you everything you need to take action. During this interactive virtual program, participants will receive a concise briefing on current threats to medication abortion and access to mifepristone, along with clear talking points and guidance for contacting members of Congress. Together, we will urge lawmakers to protect lawful access to medication abortion, including telehealth and mail access, support legislation that safeguards that access, and oppose political pressure for new FDA restrictions. No advocacy experience is necessary. We’ll review everything you need, place everyone on mute while we make our calls together, and then return to share our experiences.
