This important legislation would ensure that U.S. citizens released from Bureau of Prisons (BOP) facilities receive a valid photo identification card upon release. This is a social justice issue because lack of ID is another form of voter suppression. Lack of  ID is a huge barrier to so many things including: voting, employment, health care, housing, and more. In this program we will provide an overview of the legislation with key talking points. We will help you identify who your Congressperson and Senators are, and do a brief training on best practices for effective communication with your elected officials. Then we will all make our calls together followed by a short de-brief. Whether you have never done any legislative advocacy before, or you are an experienced activist looking for a quick action, this is the event for you.
