Community health centers across New York are facing unprecedented financial pressures, and the stakes for the upcoming state budget could not be higher. That’s why Housing Works is proud to join advocates from across the state for CHCANYS 2026 Advocacy Day, on Wednesday, March 4th, at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Your presence and your voice are essential to protecting and strengthening the future of community health. We’ll begin with the formal program running from 10:00 AM–12:15 PM in Meeting Rooms 1–5. Lunch break will begin at 11:45 AM as we transition into legislative meetings and collective action throughout the Capitol. This energizing day will kick off with Voices for Change: Advocacy Action Session, featuring powerful remarks from community health center leaders, providers, and CHCANYS policy experts. Together, we’ll ground ourselves in the urgent priorities shaping this year’s New York State budget. Advocacy Priorities for the 2026 NYS Budget Drawing from the CHCANYS Policy Report, our collective advocacy will focus on securing the resources and policy changes needed to sustain and expand high-quality, community-based primary care. Key priorities include: Stabilizing community health center funding through long-overdue Medicaid rate increases and sustainable reimbursement models that reflect the true cost of care. Investing in the health center workforce, including measures to recruit, train, and retain clinicians and support staff amid statewide shortages. Expanding access to behavioral health services, with integrated models that meet rising mental health and substance use needs. Strengthening health equity initiatives that address disparities in access, outcomes, and social drivers of health across underserved communities. Supporting capital and infrastructure needs, including modernizing facilities, expanding digital health capacity, and improving operational resilience. These priorities reflect the urgent challenges facing New York’s community health centers — and the opportunities we have to shape a stronger, more equitable health system for all. CHCANYS Advocacy Day is more than a gathering; it’s a moment to demonstrate the collective power of community health. By showing up together, we send a clear message to state leaders: New Yorkers rely on community health centers, and community health centers rely on a budget that allows them to thrive. Please join us to demand our lawmakers invest in high-quality, community-based primary care.
