Aside from the 100 people who participated, who else knows what happened and why you were there? Every action and event you organize is an opportunity to reach thousands of people through the media and to create meaning for the audience with your framing. In this workshop we'll be going over the most useful and accessible communications tools we have available to us as organizers: Pitching op-eds, writing letters to the editor, building relationships with reporters, mapping out your local media, narrative framing, and learning to create effective videos, photos, and graphics for social media. We'll use the DSA Avelo Boycott campaign as a case study for many of these tactics, and will hear from organizers who have been using these tools successfully in their local chapters.
