Global warming and Donald Trump's current denial of it is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families. The new administration has attacked the hard-won protections of our climate, health, and communities, and the rights of people of color, workers, indigenous people, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA, young people, and more. We've fought back with a wave of protests larger than at almost any other point in history — let's make sure that we mark the 100th day of Trump's presidency with another mass action that stands up for our communities and encourages him and ALL inside and outside government to boldly #ActOnClimate now with energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable land policies that can all reduce human-based carbon emissions as soon as possible! THEREFORE, PLEASE JOIN US with your family and friends on Saturday, April 29th at 11:00 am at Cameron Park at 418 King Street (between ) in Downtown La Crosse. All ages welcome! MAP: https://goo.gl/maps/brRQU4RMKrS2 Wear weather-appropriate colorful clothes, flowers, sun symbols, etc. in honor of a life-filled planet and bring any handheld musical instruments (flutes, drums, tambourines, harmonicas, etc.) that you may have to help make some noise! We will meet at Cameron Park and sign a guest list if we wish and take a few quick pictures. We'll then begin our march at 11:15 and wave to people as we HEED ALL street signals and safely walk northward onto 4th Street, then turn left onto State Street, and then circle beautiful Riverside Park on the public sidewalks inside the grassy area. As we circle the Riverside Park grass, we will begin linking hands and alternately sing the first verses of "This Land Is Your Land" and "America the Beautiful" while also whispering individual thanks to our beautiful country and planet. Any latecomers can join the march anytime, and separated people should ONLY catch up when it is safe to do so WITHOUT running into any traffic! America the Beautiful (First Verse): O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea! This Land Is Your Land (First Verse): This land is your land, this land is my land. From California to the New York Island, From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters, This land was made for you and me. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_patriotic_songs After we finish our songs and thanks at Riverside Park, we'll continue our march southward on Harborview Plaza and Front Street as we wave to more people at restaurants and hotels, and then turn eastward onto King Street to march back to Cameron Park. Once there, we can shake hands and thank each other for coming, take a few more pictures with anyone we wish, and then disperse in several groups to have lunch in Downtown La Crosse to support the many local restaurants and cafés that make it so lively and fun!
