Emergency Town Hall for Health Canada/Public Health Agency of Canada Layoffs

Members of CAPE Local 512 (Health Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada), We are outraged by the broken promise of “caps not cuts” by the Government of Canada. Cuts to public health programs and services put everyone at risk. We are all impacted when our critical work to protect and support the health of Canadians is defunded. Our workloads increase, our productivity and our mental health plummets, and we struggle to deliver on the work that keeps our communities safe. More cuts may be on the horizon for PHAC and Health Canada with upcoming budget cuts anticipated due to the government-wide Comprehensive Expenditure Review (CER). Now is the time for us to organize and let the public and government officials know that when they attack our jobs, we will push back together. Recent labour actions right here in Canada show that when workers come together to defend their jobs, defeating ‘inevitable’ budget cuts is possible. The first step is for all of us to come together to discuss the impacts of these cuts, share our knowledge, and organize next steps. To protect our jobs and the health of Canadians, every single one of us needs to have our voices heard. RSVP for an Emergency Town Hall for 512 Layoffs from 7:00 to 8:30 pm ET on October 28. Looking forward to seeing all of you.
