In predictable fashion, the Trump regime has decided to pack airports with dangerous and unaccountable ICE agents, despite objections from the TSA workers’ union. This is an attempt to hold our airports hostage so Trump can secure more funding for a rogue agency that already has access to a massive $191 billion slush fund. Congress could pass funding for TSA today, but Republicans refuse to cooperate unless they can get more money to jail immigrant children and terrorize our neighborhoods. Any extra delays and further accidents at our airports are entirely a choice by President Trump. These fascists are directly responsible for underfunding our transportation infrastructure and leaving workers without pay. The Trump regime doesn’t get to cut hundreds of billions from Americans’ health care and Medicaid to finance an unprecedented explosion of funding for ICE and CBP’s reign of terror and violence. Tear-gassing neighborhoods, separating families, detaining parents, students, and workers does not make our communities safer.
