What are you angry about? What is putting pressure on you, your family and your community? And more importantly, what on earth can you do about it?! For almost 10 years, Nottingham Citizens has been working across the county for justice and the common good. Together, we form a diverse alliance of 40 civil society institutions from education, faith and third sector backgrounds. We train local people in the craft of Community Organising, equipping them with the practical tools to change the world from what it is, to what they believe it should be. We believe Community Organising works. This training will unpack the argument for Community Organising and share some of the practical tools we can use to act together for change, including our '5 Steps to Social Change' model. Trainees will leave having made a personal action plan for how they will go about making change, with ongoing support from our professionally trained community organisers. 'How to make change' will take place on Saturday 2 April 2022, in-person (public health guidelines permitting). Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch with you. If you have any questions and would like to know if this training would be right for you please speak to your organisational leader or contact our organisers Pete Rogers (pete.rogers@nottinghamcitizens.org) or Heidi Shewell-Cooper (heidi.shewell-cooper@nottinghamcitizens.org) You may find it helpful to watch the below short videos in preparation for the training: Nottingham Citizens - who are we? tinyurl.com/ncitzvid What is Community organizing? tinyurl.com/coexplanation or read this short blog from Owen Riley (Grace Church) reflecting on his experience of attending our November 2021 training day -- Timings: Registration and refreshments 9am; formal start 9.30; finish 4.30pm --- Costs: Nottingham Citizens member institutions: Included in membership dues Third Sector Organisations: £100 Other Organisations or Individuals: £200 For non-members, please contact an organiser for a conversation prior to registration so we can determine together if this training is appropriate for you
